Gcse Grades For Candidates Developing Serious Illness
EDM number 1764 in 1997-98, proposed by David Crausby on 16/11/1998.
That this House urges the Department of Education and Employment to support change to the GCSE Examining Board rule that requires at least 35 per cent. of the GCSE examination to be completed before a grade can be awarded; and believes that in exceptional circumstances where the 35 per cent. requirement has not been met due to a candidate developing serious illness, schools should be allowed to provide alternative forms of evidence to ensure that these candidates are given grades.
This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
