Leader Of The Opposition And Short Money
EDM number 214 in 1997-98, proposed by Fraser Kemp on 07/07/1997.
That this House notes the reported intention of the Leader of the Opposition to use the so-called Short Money to fund the Conservative Research Department; believes that this money should not be used to fund Conservative campaigning as opposed to supporting the Conservative Party in Parliament, as the resolution of the House provides for; is concerned that this will deprive members of the Shadow Cabinet who may have differing views from the Leader of the opportunity to appoint any staff of their own; and further believes that no voter will trust the Opposition Front Bench with the running of the country when their Leader does not trust them to run an office.
