Water Meadows

EDM number 313 in 1997-98, proposed by Jane Griffiths on 29/07/1997.

That this House congratulates Ministers on many aspects of the recently-published Roads Review, and in particular on the decision to cancel the environmentally damaging Salisbury bypass scheme, which would have threatened the landscape and ecology of an important river valley and irrevocably damaged ancient water meadows; and calls upon the Government to bring forward proposals further to protect and enhance the environment of Britain's water meadows and give due consideration to strengthening planning and land-use regulations to enable local communities to protect their green spaces from unacceptable development proposals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
