Conduct Of The Right Honourable And Learned Member For Folkestone And Hythe And The Kosovo Conflict

EDM number 635 in 1998-99, proposed by Bill Rammell on 11/05/1999.

That this House condemns the behaviour of the Right honourable and Learned Member for Folkstone and Hythe in relation to the ongoing conflict in Kosovo by attempting to use the situation for party political purposes; further condemns the Right honourable and Learned Member's claim that the campaign was being 'made up as we go along' and had not been properly thought through, thereby undermining the work of NATO in trying to end the ethnic cleansing and war crimes being committed by Slobodan Milosevic; further notes, that he has consistently attempted to undermine the work of the Prime Minister and the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary in the conduct of the military action; and further notes the ease with which the Right honourable and Learned Member seems to attack NATO and British troops and argue that NATO and Britain have 'failed' in their aims while service personnel are still risking their lives trying to stop Milosevic.
