SUTTON'S GRANT MAINTAINED SCHOOLS

EDM number 655 in 1998-99, proposed by Richard Ottaway on 17/05/1999.

That this House notes with concern the decision of Liberal Democrat controlled Sutton Borough Council to implement a funding formula for the Borough's eight grant maintained secondary schools, resulting in the schools having to appeal to parents for voluntary financial contributions to make up the shortfall needed to maintain standards; and calls on the council to review its policy.
