Compulsory Voting;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 780A4 in 1998-99, proposed by Teddy Taylor on 01/07/1999.

leave out from 'believes' to end and add 'that it would be shameful and insulting for Parliament to oblige persons to vote when it is Parliament which has surrendered to non-democratic institutions in Brussels so many of the powers entrusted to it by the people, and when in the recent Euro elections it offered voters the opportunity to vote for political parties instead of individuals; and considers that any system of compulsory voting would require provision for an opportunity for voters to state that they did not wish to express an opinion on the choices available to them.'.

This is a ammendment to 780.
