Knowsleys Global Information Technology Award

EDM number 794 in 1998-99, proposed by Edward O'Hara on 06/07/1999.

That this House congratulates Knowsley council on winning with its Community Information Programme the Global Bangemann Challenge, an international information technology award; notes that out of 730 entrants, including many major cities of the world, only 92 reached the finals, including only six from Europe and one, Knowsley, from the United Kingdom; is impressed to note that those outclassed by Knowsley included New York, Washington and Seattle, the home of Microsoft; and commends Knowsley for this demonstration on a world stage of its commitment to the use of information technology for community development and the personal empowerment of the people of Knowsley.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
