Extension Of The Handgun Compensation Scheme

EDM number 898 in 1998-99, proposed by Edward Davey on 27/07/1999.

That this House welcomes the Government's near completion of the settelement of claims for the surrender of handguns, but is concerned that many ancillary items relating to their ownership are not covered by the current compensation scheme; and therefore calls upon the Government to extend the number of items eligible for compensation in recognition of the thousands of former handgun owners who have acted responsibily in complying with the law.
