Breaking The Air Embargo On Iraq

EDM number 603 in 1999-00, proposed by George Galloway on 05/04/2000.

That this House congratulates the Italian MEP Vittorio Sgarchi, the French Catholic priest and filmmaker Jean-Marie Benjamin, the Secretary-General of the Deato Angelico Foundation and two colleagues on breaking the air embargo on Iraq on 3rd April, an embargo which is increasingly seen as immoral, illegal and ineffective; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to begin direct negotiations with the Government of Iraq to agree the simultaneous suspension of sanctions and the re-entry of an agreed genuinely UN team of weapons inspectors into Iraq.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
