CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR GRAVESHAM AND KENT COUNTY COUNCIL'S FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

EDM number 722 in 1999-00, proposed by Michael Fallon on 11/05/2000.

That this House congratulates Conservative-controlled Kent County Council on its efficient financial management and for its continuous and evolutionary approach to the Government's agenda for modernising local government; notes that the statement by the honourable Member for Gravesham of 10th May, Official Report, column 837, that the Council is already overspent by ú10 million in the current year, has been completely refuted by the Council's Chief Executive as inaccurate and incredible; and further notes that the County Solicitor has formally challenged the honourable Member to substantiate or withdraw his further allegation, made under parliamentary privilege, that the Council has acted unlawfully in respect of the Access to Information Act 1985.

This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
