Tinnitus Research

EDM number 656 in 2000-01, proposed by David Taylor on 10/05/2001.

That this House commends the work of the British Tinnitus Association in strengthening the voice of people with this distressing condition; notes the widely held misconception that tinnitus is confined to the elderly although various studies have shown it can occur at any age, even in quite young children; is concerned that the basic clinical needs of the 10 per cent. of the population with tinnitus are not being met; congratulates all involved with the long campaign for an integrated and properly funded multi-disciplinary Tinnitus Research Unit; and calls on the incoming Government to respond to that campaign and allocate greater resources to the search for a pharmacological solution to a problem which affects an average of 8,500 patients in each parliamentary constituency.

This motion has been signed by a total of 2 MPs.
