Conservative Party And The Ku Klux Klan

EDM number 217 in 2001-02, proposed by Brian Sedgemore on 04/10/2001.

That this House is dismayed that the Conservative Party should have accepted as a member Mr Bill Binding of Upper Clapton knowing that he was a candidate for the National Front in the European elections of 1994, that he was a parliamentary candidate for the BNP in the 1997 election and that he is, or was until recently, a member of the Ku Klux Klan; notes that the aim of the hooded brethren in the Ku Klux Klan is the preservation of the white race and the exile of Jewish and black races involving lynching and other terrorist activities; notes that Mr Binding was a member of the virulent Klan branch, Knights of the Invisible Empire, was registered as company secretary of Invisible Empire (Europe) Limited and was number two to Alan Winder, Grand Dragon for the Realm of England; is concerned that through the Swindon group Binding comes to the House of Commons for discussions with Conservative honourable Members; finds it sinister that Chris Poole, the national membership secretary of the Conservative Party, believes that Binding is a fit and proper person to be a card-carrying Conservative on Binding's assurance that he is not a racist; and calls on the Leader of the Conservative Party to order the withdrawal of Binding's Party card.

This motion has been signed by a total of 39 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
