Reduction In Msps

EDM number 270 in 2001-02, proposed by John Barrett on 18/10/2001.

That this House notes that under the Scotland Act, any reduction in the number of Scottish honourable Members will automatically reduce the number of MSPs in the Scottish Parliament; and believes that the Scottish Parliament cannot properly function with less than its current 129 total; and further believes that although it is uncertain the Boundary Commission's final proposals will come into effect before the next general election, the Government should end the political uncertainty, by making a clear statement of intent, to amend the Scotland Act and keep 129 MSPs.

This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
