Durham Police Constabulary

EDM number 459 in 2001-02, proposed by Kevan Jones on 21/11/2001.

That this House congratulates the Durham Police Constabulary for achieving over a period of six years 'clear leadership, a purpose to get back to basics and a good communication flow between senior officers and frontline officers' which has led to a glowing report from Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary; recognises that amongst the key factors that have led towards its sustained success were the commendable work by the scientific support staff, an authentic concern for staff well-being, and the enthusiasm, determination and courage of the force, which has led to crime being reduced by a third since the 1990s; and commends it as a shining and positive example of what can be achieved when a police authority and police force work in partnership.

This motion has been signed by a total of 7 MPs.
