Basc/acpo Airgun Safety Campaign

EDM number 809 in 2001-02, proposed by Martyn Jones on 06/02/2002.

That this House welcomes the recent initiative by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation in launching a national campaign to provide airgun safety training for young people; applauds the involvement of the Association of Chief Police Officers in supporting the campaign and their collaboration in producing the Airgun Code of Practice; notes that the initiative follows the Government's recommendation that 'strategies should be devised between police forces, schools and community leaders to reduce the misuse of air weapons'; and recognises that properly supervised airgun shooting helps young people to learn safety and responsibility in a secure environment.
