Conduct Of The Hon Member For Stretford & Urmston

That this House notes the failure of the honourable Member for Stretford and Urmston as Minister of State at the Home Office adequately to respond to letters, calls and faxes from honourable Members attempting to represent the interests of their constituents; notes that case number B1030154 has been awaiting consideration for over two years; further notes the absence of any action following calls from the office of the honourable Member for Rutland and Melton to the Immigration and Nationality Directorate on 16th July, 18th September, 7th November, 2nd December 2002 and 14th January, 24th January, 12th February; notes the Minister's failure to reply to his letter dated 12th February despite giving a reference number on an acknowledgement card; notes the failure to respond to further calls on 24th February, 13th March, 19th March, 20th March; notes her failure to respond to calls to her private office on 19th and 20th March; condemns her offensive and peremptory response to faxes of exasperation sent to the personally; notes her high-handed and dismissive manner with honourable Members on many occasions; records her denial of any ultimate ministerial responsibility for the Immigration and Nationality Directorate when questioned in the House about her incompetence; calls on the House to reduce her salary forthwith; and considers her unsuitable for any further service as a government minister.
