Roger Casement

EDM number 1517 in 2002-03, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 02/07/2003.

That this House welcomes the display of Sir John Lavery's painting of Roger Casement's appeal at the National Portrait Gallery; welcomes the decision to send the painting on semi-permanent loan to Dublin; recognises that he made a huge contribution to Irish independence before his execution in Pentonville Prison in 1916; and deeply regrets that the only memorial to him, in the Borough of Islington, at the Roger Casement Irish Centre, was closed by the Liberal Democrat council in 2000.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
