Fyrom And The Country Name Macedonia

EDM number 1621 in 2002-03, proposed by Edward O'Hara on 17/07/2003.

That this House notes with concern the use of the country name Macedonia to describe the former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia in a bilateral agreement between that country and the USA; is conscious of the continuing dispute between Greece and FYROM over entitlement to use the country name Macedonia which is currently before the UN; condemns the use of that country name in this document as an insult both to Greece and to the UN; and requests that Her Majesty's Government be vigilant to avoid the use of the country name Macedonia when referring to FYROM.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
