UNFPA'S ANNUAL STATE OF THE WORLD POPULATION REPORT 2002;Amdt. line 1:

EDM number 378A1 in 2002-03, proposed by Ann Widdecombe on 04/02/2003.

leave out from 'House' to end and insert 'notes the failure of the UNFPA to address the scandal of coercive population control; further notes that in the last year the UNFPA has been judged by the US administration and by a Peruvian Congressional Commission to have been complicit in programmes of coercive population control; further notes that the key to alleviating poverty in developing nations is investment in primary health care and long term development aid rather than women's access to so-called reproductive health services; further notes with regret the Department for International Development's 2001-02 bilateral funding commitments are ú260 million for so-called reproductive health services whilst safe drinking water and adequate sanitation has been allocated only ú78.8 million; and urges the Department for International Development to review its funding commitments and in particular its financial support for the UNFPA.'

This is a ammendment to 378.
