That this House welcomes the official opening of the Kingston Communications Stadium and Sports Arena complex in Hull - the first ever stadium of its kind, which was the brainchild of Patrick Doyle the former Labour leader of Hull City Council, supported by members of the Labour Group, financed substantially from the Council's Kingston Communications flotation; notes the astuteness and foresight of the Labour Group in ensuring that the development of the stadium boosted the local economy with a local labour agreement written into the contract; commends and fully supports the emphasis of a community stadium, enabling access of the wide-ranging sporting and educational facilities to the general public welcomes the use of the North Stand to create a community learning suite, incorporating classrooms and learning facilities for visiting school parties and adult groups, with library facilities, IT centre, gymnasium and health and fitness centre and allocating specific learning facilities for Hull College to expand its sports people with family friendly facilities and the disabled and visually impaired; recognises the positive impact this project has had throughout Hull, who have unanimously supported the development of the stadium; and conclude that this initiative driven by the Labour Group at Hull City Council is a prime example of its commitment to local regeneration and the provision of quality facilities for the benefit of all the people in Hull.
