Education In Northern Ireland

EDM number 1804 in 2005-06, proposed by Sammy Wilson on 13/03/2006.

That this House notes with concern the proposals for the reform of the Post-Primary Education System in Northern Ireland contained in the Draft Education Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 2006; recognises that there is widespread opposition to these proposals from a clear majority of parents and teaching professionals; acknowledges that there is no consensus amongst the political parties in Northern Ireland on the way forward; and therefore calls on the Government to withdraw the Order and to make appropriate arrangements for this matter to be addressed by the Northern Ireland Assembly at the earliest opportunity.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
