CHILDREN'S SERVICES IN SUNDERLAND

EDM number 2914 in 2005-06, proposed by Fraser Kemp on 07/11/2006.

That this House congratulates Sunderland City Council and its children's services department for the praise they received from Ofsted and the Commission for Social Care Inspection; notes that the council was particularly praised for boosting the health of youngsters and aiding their performance at secondary school; further notes that in the Sunderland City Council area vaccination and immunisation rates are rising and the rates of teenage pregnancy are falling; also notes that there was a significant improvement in the performance of 11 to 14 year olds in the classroom; and welcomes the high standard of care for children in Sunderland.
