Home Care Provision And Union Action In Carmarthenshire

That this House notes with concern proposals by Carmarthenshire County Council to increase the independent provision of home care in Carmarthenshire; recognises the excellent work undertaken by the current home care staff who deliver a committed service; opposes any decision to privatise the home care service; fully supports the joint union action proposed by the GMB, the Transport and General Workers Union and Unison including demonstration rallies on 30th March 2007 in Ammanford, 14th April 2007 in Llanelli and 28th April 2007 in Carmarthen; and calls on the Council to rethink its strategy in light of the strong opposition from care workers, unions and residents reliant on the home care provision.
