Baps Centenary

EDM number 2049 in 2006-07, proposed by Dawn Butler on 08/10/2007.

That this House congratulates BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Brent South, the largest such temple outside India, on the anniversary of their centenary; further congratulates them on the amazing event held in a packed Wembley Arena in the presence of his Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj and broadcast around the world; welcomes their commitment to charity work and their recent successful fundraising for breast cancer awareness charities, £12,000 thus far; notes that BAPS believe that a social commitment is central to their spiritual activities; and congratulates BAPS on a centenary of commitment to social justice and co-operation, a year after the Labour Party celebrated a centenary of working to deliver these values in Government.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
