Hm Revenue And Customs Offices In Greater Manchester

EDM number 1186 in 2007-08, proposed by Paul Rowen on 13/03/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Civil Service, Taxation and Unemployment.

That this House notes with concern proposals to close half of Greater Manchester's 18 HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) offices; recognises that the staff employed provide a first-class service to people in Greater Manchester; is concerned that the ability of HMRC to provide tax advice to the public and local businesses in Rochdale, Altrincham, Ashton-under-Lyne, Bury, Cheadle, Oldham, Salford and Stockport would be undermined by these closures; and calls on the Government and HMRC to reverse this decision and ensure that the people of Greater Manchester have an easily accessible Revenue and Customs office in their area.

This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
