That this House notes that Ross Willmott has announced his resignation after seven years as Leader of Leicester City Council in order to fight an election campaign as prospective parliamentary candidate for North West Leicester; congratulates Councillor Willmott on his accomplishments during this time at Leicester City Council, including the opening of the remarkable Peepul Centre in 2005, the High Cross Shopping Centre in 2008, the launch of the Curve Theatre in 2008, the transformation of the St George's area of Leicester in 2001 and the creation of a super-school in west Leicester in 1998; believes that the city of Leicester has undergone a vast number of improvements under his leadership; and wishes him well as a successor to the late David Taylor.
