Jigsaw Charity And Support For Vulnerable People

EDM number 1189 in 2010-12, proposed by Alan Meale on 13/12/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Community care.

That this House is aware of the many excellent projects which have evolved under the umbrella of the Government's Supporting People programme, designed to give practical support to older, disabled and vulnerable people in the community; praises the work of Jigsaw, a registered charity based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, which currently runs a wide range of projects helping many people who otherwise would cost Government, local authorities and other services such as the NHS considerably higher levels of finance to meet their ongoing needs; believes it to be both common sense and good governance to ensure such an organisation, operating as it does in areas suffering from high levels of multiple deprivation and therefore needing such preventative support services, is allowed to continue its work; and calls on the Government and Nottinghamshire County Council to do whatever is necessary to allow it to do so.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
