Libya And The Lse Council

EDM number 1554 in 2010-12, proposed by Robert Halfon on 08/03/2011.
Categorised under the topics of Higher education and Middle East.

That this House notes the honourable resignation of Sir Howard Davies from the LSE Council, given the university's links with the Gaddafi regime; concludes, however, that while Sir Howard Davies shouldered the responsibility, the LSE Council and its senior academic staff are also at fault; concludes that the close financial ties between Libya and the LSE did not result from an isolated mistake by Sir Howard Davies but rather from a deliberate and sustained effort by many senior employees of the LSE, including many on its Council; and therefore calls on all those involved to do the decent thing and resign.
