Letters From 10 Downing Street

EDM number 1795 in 2010-12, proposed by Gerald Kaufman on 11/05/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Members of Parliament.

That this House notes that letters from hon. Members to the Prime Minister are replied to on 10 Downing Street headed paper over the name and purported handwritten signature of Mrs E Adams; further notes that it has been stated by the head of the 10 Downing Street Direct Communications Unit to the right hon. Member for Manchester, Gorton that the name Mrs E Adams is computer-generated and that no such person exists and that the signature is therefore bogus; wonders whether the Prime Minister is aware of this practice and has sanctioned it; and, if he is not and has not, calls on him to put a stop to it forthwith.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
