UK Donorlink

EDM number 2911 in 2010-12, proposed by Grahame Morris on 21/03/2012.
Categorised under the topic of Health services.

That this House is concerned by the decision by the Department of Health to cease funding to UK DonorLink (UKDL), the voluntary information exchange and contact point for those genetically related through donor conception; is aware that the Department has decided instead to fund the National Gamete Donation Trust to run the voluntary register service alongside its current role of promoting donor conception; notes the strongly expressed views of UKDL registrants and professional bodies concerned with child and family welfare as to the inappropriateness of this due to the apparent conflict of interests; and urgently requests that this decision is reviewed.
