Independent Adviser On Ministers' Interests

EDM number 228 in 2012-13, proposed by Paul Flynn on 19/06/2012.
Categorised under the topic of Ministers.

That this House believes that Sir Alex Allan's participation in a party political stunt on13 June 2012proves that Sir Alex has destroyed any claims to be independent; notes that this conduct reinforces the Public Administration Select Committee's (PASC)unanimous opinion that Sir Alex was never likely to be an appropriate choice because of his long career obeying orders from politicians; calls on Sir Alex to honour his promise to consider relinquishing his post if thePASC opposed his appointment; and is convinced that the valuable reform of an Independent Adviser on Ministers' Interests has been gravely damaged by conduct which has politicised and degraded the office.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
