Turkey And The European Social Charter

EDM number 308 in 2012-13, proposed by Alan Meale on 03/07/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Aviation, Industrial relations and Middle East.

That this House expresses its deep concern about the Turkish government's recent decision, following a breakdown in discussions between its airlines industry and trades unions which resulted in astrike being called by the Turkish Civil Aviation Union (HAVA-1s), to amend its law to include its aviation sector amongst those of its industries in which a ban exists restricting its workforce from taking strike action; and calls on the Government to remind its Turkish counterparts that such actions are in conflict with European legal instruments, including those found in the European Social Charter (CETS No. 163) which has been in force in Turkey since August 2007.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
