Housing

EDM number 766 in 2012-13, proposed by George Galloway on 22/11/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Homelessness and Housing benefits.

That this House deplores the 47 per cent rise in homelessness in Bradford in the last year; believes that this horrendous statistic is bound to rise when housing benefits are removed from under-25s; notes that, along with continually rising unemployment, 21,000 people are now on the Bradford housing waiting list; further notes that onlyone-fifth of required new homes are presently being built; further notes that this is part of a more general national housing crisis where need now far exceeds supply; and calls on the Government to recognise the extent of this emergency by implementing an immediate programme of new house building which will not only address the shortfall but bring much needed employment to West Yorkshire and beyond.

This motion has been signed by a total of 8 MPs.
