South Lanarkshire School Bus Campaigners

EDM number 1130 in 2015-16, proposed by Margaret Ferrier on 24/02/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Buses and Schools.

That this House congratulates all of the people across the South Lanarkshire Council area who campaigned to prevent the withdrawal of school bus services for some pupils; recognises that concerted and consistent pressure from campaigners has led to the reversal of the plans by the local authority; agrees that school bus transport entitlement should meet local need, not just the bare minimum legal requirements; acknowledges that the proposals to change entitlement to school transport were unworkable due to safety concerns not being addressed, and should not have been passed by the authority in the first place; and calls on South Lanarkshire Council to prioritise safety when making future decisions.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
