Old Kirkton Church, Burntisland

EDM number 371 in 2015-16, proposed by Roger Mullin on 07/09/2015.
Categorised under the topic of Cultural heritage.

That this House congratulates Burntisland's Old Kirkton Church Community Conservation and Heritage Promotion Project in Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath constituency on its recent award of £90,500 from the Heritage Lottery Fund; recognises that this funding will support the repair and conservation of a deteriorating twelfth-century Scheduled Monument with a view to long-term, sustainable use as a visitor attraction; notes that this process will offer opportunities for community engagement and will transform the site, leading to wider improvements in the area of Burntisland; acknowledges that the development of the site will involve the participation of local primary schools, providing a wealth of new skills to the children involved; and further recognises that the development of the site will have many long-term benefits for the Burntisland community and beyond, which present and future generations will be able to enjoy.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
