House Of Lords Abolition And Replacement

That this House calls on the Government to allow sufficient time for a debate and vote on the House of Lords (Abolition and Replacement) Bill; and supports the main provision within the Bill to abolish the House of Lords and make provision for its replacement by a Senate a quarter of its size, composed of elected senators representing the main interests of society, namely science, technology, the arts, both sides of industry and others, alongside a smaller group of senators, taking up to a third of the membership, to represent the balance of regions with England ensuring it does not dominate, as well as political parties elected to the House of Commons.
