That this House congratulates Model European Union Scotland (MEU Scotland) on hosting its first conference due to be held on 19 to 24 October 2017 at the University of Strathclyde; notes that the event seeks to promote cultural exchange and political participation through an educational simulation of the politics and legislative processes of the EU; acknowledges that over 70 youth leaders from over 20 nations will assume the roles of parliamentarians, Ministers and journalists, debating, negotiating and concluding on proposals on the issues of climate change action and sustainable agriculture; understands that the event has been granted Patronage of the European Parliament by Antonio Tajani MEP, will involve a visit to the Scottish Parliament with the Minister for International Development and Europe, Dr Alasdair Allan MSP, and is being held in partnership with the European Commission and European Parliament Representation Offices in Scotland; further notes that the event has been granted a civic reception by the Lord Provost of Glasgow; welcomes efforts to strengthen citizenship and political empowerment; and wishes all involved a successful conference and enjoyable stay in Glasgow.
