Hospital Car Parking Charges

EDM number 495 in 2017-19, proposed by Robert Halfon on 02/11/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Health services and Roads.

That this House is disappointed that following the publication of the Government guidance on hospital car parking in August 2014, 47 per cent of hospitals have increased their parking charges for an hour stay; notes that there continues to be discrepancies in parking charges cross England, with three hospitals in London charging almost £400 per week to park; believes that such charges have serious implications, not only for patients and friends and family visiting their loved ones but specifically for parents of premature babies and cancer patients; considers such charges a stealth tax on drivers using NHS services; and therefore calls on the Government to consider ending car parking charges at hospitals.
