Stirling Smith Art Gallery And Museum

EDM number 838 in 2017-19, proposed by Stephen Kerr on 22/01/2018.
Categorised under the topic of Museums and galleries.

That this House acknowledges the Stirling Smith as the main museum and art gallery in Stirling; notes its contribution as a significant cultural asset which in itself attracts over 40,000 visitors each year; further notes its vision to serve the people of Stirling and further afield by conserving and managing its collections, providing access to them and acting as custodians for future generations; notes the contribution of the many volunteers and staff who make the Stirling Smith the superb facility it is; believes that the removal of Stirling Council funding from the Stirling Smith would be an act of cultural vandalism; and calls on Stirling Council to reject this potential cut.
