West Midlands Health And Health Care International

That this House is horrified that following a Government initiative West Midlands Regional Health Authority plans to transfer patients awaiting surgery at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital to Health Care International Medical Centre, a private hospital in Glasgow; believes that it is outrageous that patients should be expected to travel 300 miles for treatment when beds are being lost and wards closed locally; and further believes that the Government's actions have more to do with financially bailing out an ailing private hospital and statistical gimmicks than patient care.
