Coal Mining Subsidence
EDM number 308 in 1989-90, proposed by Alan Meale on 16/01/1990.
That this House views as totally inadequate the current procedures by which British Coal repairs the damage to or compensates people whose homes, properties, businesses and services have been damaged by coal mining subsidence; calls for fair and effective systems to be introduced, as recommended by the Waddilove Committee as long ago as 1984; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to make clear its intention to introduce immediately necessary legislation to establish proper mechanisms to ensure fair and equitable repair and compensation of such damaged properties.
This motion has been signed by a total of 72 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
