Confidential Reports Deposited With The Police

EDM number 429 in 1990-91, proposed by Richard Caborn on 06/02/1991.

That this House notes with concern the account in Tribune newspaper of the leaking of a confidential report, written by the General Secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union, that had been deposited with the police; is appalled that such a report should have been passed to a national newspaper by police personnel; recalls that this is not the first occasion when such leaking has occurred; requests the Home Secretary to call in the acting Commissioner of Police and the Inspector of Constabularies to express the deep concern of the House at yet another such occurrence; and urges him to set up an independent investigation to find the source of the leak.
