PENDLETON'S ICE CREAM

That this House notes with extreme concern the actions of Mr Ipe Jacob of the receivers, Robson Rhodes, in failing to reach an agreement with Pendleton's Ice Cream Ltd. to rent the former Clarke Foods site in Kirkby; notes that with the support of the Transport and General Workers Union, Knowsley Council, the Department of Trade and Industry and Mr Bob Mottram, the workforce have a viable business plan, finance and orders; further notes that the receivers' only alternative, which they have already started to implement, is to put up a 'For Sale' sign, rip out the plant and machinery and, given the state of the property market, to let the factory rot; and calls on Mr Jacob, even at this late stage, to reach an agreement with Pendleton's Ice Cream Ltd.
