Bear Baiting In Pakistan

That this House notes the international pressure on the declining number of wild bears; welcomes the campaign launched by the World Society for the Protection of Animals to highlight the widespread and illegal practice of bear baiting in Pakistan; notes that over 80 bear baiting events take place every year in Pakistan and that they are openly advertised as well as licensed by regional authorities; and calls upon the Government of Pakistan to take action to enforce its commendable laws on animal cruelty and to stop this cruel and barbaric activity as a matter of urgency.
