West Midlands Regional Health Authority (No.2)

That this House notes with concern National Audit Office Report (House of Commons Paper 197-XI of Session 1992-93) Advances to Health Authorities in England which highlights serious irregularities in the management of the West Midlands Regional Health Authority; notes also that the Royal Orthopaedic and Accident Hospitals in Birmingham are threatened with closure and that services are to be transferred out to the City's General Hosital; and believing that the present management of the West Midlands Regional Health Authority has failed to carry out its duties in respect of hospitals, calls for the resignation of Sir James Ackers, a full public enquiry into the West Midlands Regional Health Authority and a halt to all hospital closures and cuts in services until such an enquiry has been completed.
