Domestic Violence

EDM number 1564 in 1994-95, proposed by Tessa Jowell on 01/11/1995.

That this House notes that one in five women is likely to suffer domestic violence; acknowledges that the current law fails to provide protection for these women and their children; notes that the Family Homes and Domestic Violence Bill is the product of lengthy consultation by the Law Commission and has received cross party support; and calls on the Government to ensure that it completes its parliamentary stages before the end of this Parliamentary session.
