That this House deplores the failure of Central Television to mount a by-election special on Thursday 15th December to report the result at the Dudley West Parliamentary Constituency in the West Midlands: believes this was a missed opportunity by Central Television to prove it is a regionally orientated company and that this can only be a result of the company being owned and controlled by London-based Carlton Television; and considers that the Carlton Television not to take any interest in what was the most spectacular by-election result in living memory is symptomatic of its attitude to the Midlands which amounts to ignoring the region.
