CHILDREN'S LIVER DISEASE FOUNDATION
EDM number 227 in 1996-97, proposed by Alan Meale on 21/11/1996.
That this House pays tribute to the work of the Children's Liver Disease Foundation in caring for children and families suffering from liver disease, especially its efforts to create a greater degree of awareness of paediatric liver disease by the education of medical professionals and the public at large; wholeheartedly supports its efforts to promote research into the causes and treatments, to develop means of early diagnosis and cure and to provide new facilities and trained staff and its call for financial help and emotional support for children and families affected by the illness; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to help this excellent organisation in its work, in particular by accepting the importance of the UK's adoption of the World Health Organisation's recommendation to introduce a universal vaccination policy to protect our nation's children against the hepatitis B virus.
