That this House views with concern the intention to cut pay levels at the Manchester Evening News; questions the need for this when the newspaper is recording healthy profits; deeply regrets the refusal of meaningful negotiations; finds this action by one of the country's leading and most respected regional newspapers out of keeping with the principles espoused by its sister newspaper, The Guardian; and calls for urgent negotiations with employees and their representatives, if necessary with the assistance of ACAS.
