BIRMINGHAM'S HOSTING OF THE G8 SUMMIT

EDM number 1340 in 1997-98, proposed by Richard Burden on 18/05/1998.

That this House congratulates the people of Birmingham and the West Midlands for what the Prime Minister has described as an 'extraordinary and stunning display' in hosting the G8 Summit; notes that the city has also been saluted by the other world leaders attending the summit; and believes that Birmingham's success in hosting G8 and other recent international events such as Eurovision underline its role as a major international city for the 21st century with world class facilities, world class organisation and world class hospitality from its people.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
